Customs, taxes, and international shipping

If you are ordering from outside the European Union (e.g., to the US, Switzerland, UK, or Canada), please note that customs duties, import taxes, or processing fees may apply when importing into your country. These costs are not included in the product price or shipping costs and must usually be paid by the recipient.

Note: We deliver internationally according to Incoterm DAP (Delivered at Place) – this means that customs duties and taxes are to be paid by the buyer and may be charged directly by the shipping service provider.

Frequently asked questions about customs, taxes, and international shipping

  1. As a buyer, do I have to pay customs duties or taxes when ordering outside the EU?

Yes. Deliveries to countries outside the European Union (e.g., USA, Switzerland, UK, Canada) may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, or processing fees. These are not charged by us, but by the respective customs office or shipping service provider in the recipient country.

  1. Are these costs included in the purchase price or shipping costs?

No. Customs duties and taxes are not included in the product price or shipping costs. As the buyer, you are responsible for paying these charges. This is usually handled directly by the shipping service provider (e.g., DHL, FedEx, UPS).

  1. How do I know how much the customs costs will be?

The amount of customs duties depends on various factors:

Value of goods

Type of goods (customs tariff number/HS code)

Country of origin

You can find out about possible costs in advance from your local customs authority or using online calculators such as SimplyDuty.

  1. What does “delivery according to Incoterm DAP” mean?

We ship internationally according to Incoterm DAP (“Delivered at Place”) – delivery to the delivery address, but without payment of customs duties or taxes. These must be paid by the recipient.

  1. What happens if I don’t pay the customs fees?

If customs duties or taxes are not paid, the shipment may be:

held by customs,

returned to us, or

in the worst case, destroyed.

In such cases, we will not refund the shipping costs or value of the goods.

  1. What can I do to facilitate importation?

Always provide your correct address and telephone number when ordering so that the shipping service provider can contact you if they have any questions.

Respond quickly to notifications regarding customs clearance or payments.
